![]() ![]() Link is himself a Sasquatch that learned to speak, read, write and even to play chess, his intelligence is on par with humans and he even wears clothes to blend in, its never brought up wether he is abnormally intelligent for his species or not (however the fact that the yetis are also intelligent suggests the latter). The story ends with a similar shot, but this time, photo Adelina's smile seems to smile upon the adjacent photo of Sir Lionel and Susan as friends. The beginning of the story shows a shot of Sir Lionel's office, complete with a photo of Adelina. The story begins with Sir Lionel's assistant quitting for good, and ends with Sir Lionel finding a new one, Susan.Link blows a raspberry at the Elder Yeti, surprising her enough to make her break her contemptuous frown. Blowing a Raspberry:After escaping from Shangri-La with his friends, Mr.Bigfoot, Sasquatch and Yeti: The eponymous Link is a Bigfoot, and the protagonists encounter a tribe of yetis.Artistic License Geography: Maps of the United States show Arizona and New Mexico despite the movie being set in 1909, before they became states.(Not even when they're falling to their death like Stenk.) Artistic License Biology: As Christopher Lee once pointed out, nobody lets out a blood-curdling scream when they've been stabbed through the chest.Lionel goes silent for a moment then forces himself to admit that he only wants to join because they said he couldn't. Armour-Piercing Question: Sick of him griping about the club, Adelina asks Lionel why he wants to join a group of old men who openly hate him.Speculative Documentary: The film is a speculative look at how Australopithecus went extinct and how the last individual may have lived out its life.Spared, but Not Forgiven: When the Man-Ape realises that the axe he has carried is a weapon he begins attacking human footprints in the sand, suggesting he wants revenge before he relents, throwing the axe into the sea.Prehistoric Life - Mammals: Almost all the African animals are already evolved into familiar forms, the only exception is one creature that seems out of place the extinct Hominid.Narrative-Driven Nature Documentary: While Missing Links story mostly follows a basic narrative centred on the titular missing link, nature footage is interwoven with the story of The Man-Ape as he observes and interacts with the other animals he lives alongside.Last of His Kind: The Man-Ape after his entire tribe is killed by humans. One of the attempts involves grabbing it by the blade and using the handle to crack an egg. Improbable Use of a Weapon: The Man-Ape tries a few times to figure out how to use the stone axe, before the hallucinogen-induced dream.Higher Understanding Through Drugs: The Man-Ape eats a hallucinogenic plant which causes him to realise the axe he has been carrying with him is a weapon (this could be a reference to the Stoned Ape Theory, a hypothesis that consumption of hallucinogens helped early humans in developing the ability to conceptualize and abstract thinking). They vanished from the fossil record about one million years ago - probably the first of many species pushed into oblivion by man. The man-apes (Australopithecus robustus) are known only from their fossil remains which shows that they once shared the planet with our own ancestors.
